This is another extension of the Zoo City series inspired by the book by Lauren Beukes. I like the idea of the rhino emerging from the dark rather than placing it in a traditional bush landscape – if you look very carefully, you’ll see a sketch of the Joburg skyline next to the rhino’s horn. The text includes the description of a rhino hunt by William Cornwallis Harris, who like many travelers of the time, shot everything in sight. (In light of the rhino poaching crisis, texts like this are hard to read.)
I love drawing wildlife, so this is a style I plan to explore further when I have more time. Future plans include an exhibition of wildlife art to launch another of my campaigns as a brand ambassador for the Range Rover Evoque. I’ll post more details once they are closer to being finalised.
