A birthday card for the Arch

This is a birthday card for Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu, who turns 82 on October 7. It is inspired by the colours of his cassock – ecclesiastical purple and this quote, when he said, “Do your little bit of good where you are; its those little bits of good put together that overwhelm the world.” So the bird-like dots of colour in this work represent all those little bits of good adding up to overwhelm the darkness. The colours are much richer and more complex in reality – the camera can’t read the subtleties – but this gives you an idea.
